To configure a new ad automation rule for auto scheduling a promo and an ad slate after every asset segment, follow the below steps:
- Click the Ad Automation label on the top-right side of the PLANNER application.
- In the Ad Automation pane, provide a rule name that helps you identify, prioritize, and update the ad automation rule when multiple rules are available.
- Filter assets by Asset Duration → Greater than (>) → <asset duration>. This ensures that the rule will be applied to all assets having a duration greater than the specified time duration. In this case, 1 minute is taken as an example.
Note: You can choose a different asset duration per your requirement or choose any other filters such as Asset Type, No. of Segments, etc. - Provide the Flight duration.
- Select the start date from which the special promo needs to be aired for the occasion.
- Select the end date until which the special promo needs to be aired for the occasion.
- Leave the default selection in the Week Parts as it is. This ensures that the ad break pattern will be applied throughout the week.
- To schedule promos for the entire day, keep the All day checkbox as it is. If you wish to schedule special promos only for certain day parts, clear the All day checkbox, and choose specific time slots, for example, 5.00 PM to 7.00 PM.
Known issues: If the day part starts from PM and ends at AM (for example, 11 PM to 1 AM), then the ad automation rule will not get scheduled as expected. As a workaround, choose two day parts - one day part ending at midnight and the other day part starting from midnight (For example, 11 PM to 11:59 PM and 00:00 AM to 1 AM).
- Provide the Ad break pattern.
- Select the All ad breaks option from the Apply to list so that the ad break pattern will be applied to all ad breaks available in the asset.
- Configure a promo that has to be scheduled at the start of every ad break.
- Option 1: Schedule assets from the content manager
- Select the Ad media type as Asset(s).
- Locate the required media corresponding to the ad slate from the content manager and drag it to the box displayed below Asset(s).
- Option 2: Keep the ad spot as Single
- Select a media type corresponding to the promo from the Ad media type.
- Select the Ad spot as Single
- Provide the duration range of the ad media (minimum and maximum duration).
- Option 1: Schedule assets from the content manager
- Click the ADD MORE link to configure another ad media.
- Follow one of the below options to configure ad slate as the second ad media after promo:
- Option 1: Schedule assets from the content manager
- Select the Ad media type as Asset(s).
- Locate the required media corresponding to the ad slate from the content manager and drag it to the box displayed below Asset(s).
- Option 2: Keep the ad spot as single
- Select a media type corresponding to the ad slate from the Ad media type.
- Select the Ad spot as Single.
- Provide the duration range of the ad media (minimum and maximum duration).
Note: One asset belonging to the ad media type will be picked from the pool of assets and scheduled in the ad break.
- Option 1: Schedule assets from the content manager
- Save the rule.
- Use the left pane of the Ad automation window to assign the priority.
Once done, test out the rule by scheduling an asset.
