    Article summary

As per the content planning, the ad break pattern might vary with the asset duration and segment count.

To configure a new ad automation rule for auto scheduling an ad slate after every segment of an asset having a specific duration and segment count, follow the below steps:

    1. Click the Ad Automation label on the top-right side of the PLANNER application.
    2. In the Ad Automation pane, provide a rule name that helps you identify, prioritize, and update the ad automation rule when multiple rules are available.
    3. Filter assetsby providing the asset duration range (minimum and maximum duration) and segment count.
      1. Provide the minimum asset duration in the range. For that, select the filter Asset Duration → Greater than (>) → <asset duration>. For example, if you want to filter assets in the duration range of 20 to 25 minutes, specify the minimum duration as 20 minutes.
      2. Click ADD MORE to add a new filter condition.
      3. Provide the maximum asset duration in the range. For that, select the filter Asset Duration → Lesser than (<) <asset duration> . For example, if you want to filter assets in the duration range of 20 to 25 minutes, specify the maximum duration as 25 minutes.
      4. Click ADD MORE to add a new filter condition to filter the segment count.
      5. Provide the explicit segment count of the asset by applying the filter condition: No. of Segments Equal to (=) <required segment count.

For example, if you want to apply the ad break pattern only to the assets having 3 segments, specify the segment count as 3.

This ensures that the ad break pattern will be applied only to the assets that fall within the specified duration range and segment count. For example, in this case, the ad break pattern will be applied only to the assets having the duration range between 20 to 25 minutes and segment count 3.Filter assets for a duration range and segment count
    4. Leave the default settings in the Flight duration as it is. This ensures that the rule will be applied to all the schedules starting from the current date.

    5. Provide the Ad break pattern.
      1. Select All ad breaks from the Apply to list so that the rule will be applied to all ad breaks available in the asset.
      2. Configure an ad slate on every ad break by following one of the below options:
        • Option 1: Drag assets from the content manager
          1. Select the Ad media type as Asset(s)
          2. Locate the required media corresponding to the ad slate from the content manager and drag it to the box displayed below Asset(s).
Insert ad media - Ad media type - Assets
        • Option 2: Keep the ad spot as single
          1. Select a media type corresponding to the ad slate from the Ad media type.
          2. Select the Ad spot as Single
          3. Provide the duration range of the ad media (minimum and maximum duration).
Note: One asset from the pool of assets belonging to the ad media type will be picked and scheduled in the ad break.
    6. Save the rule.
    7. Use the left pane of the Ad automation window to assign the priority.
Schedule assets having specific duration and asset count - Assign priority
Once done, test out the rule by scheduling an asset.
